Janie Pelletier – Holistic nutrition

As a certified Yoga Instructor and Nutritionist my focus is digestion on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. As a Holistic practitioner what makes me thrive, is supporting you understanding how your relationship with food may benefit or sabotage your overall health.

A health nerd !

My foundation is my family. I grew up in a large and loving French Canadian family where we always gathered around delicious homemade meals… “made with love” as my mother always says. 

As a young actress I realized my body was my “tool” and my health had the potential to impact the whole production crew for better or worse. So I learned how to make herbal preparations of garlic, ginger, lemon, and honey to strengthen my immune system when rehearsing long hours for a show. Breathing techniques and movement were part of my acting training in order to keep the body strong and supple, and the mind sharp. Discipline was instilled in me and shall remain for as long as I live.

In May 2004, my appendix was removed 2 days prior to the final exams in my 1st year in training, acrobatics was part of my evaluations as I was bedridden. Even if nobody got mad at me or my appendix for ruining the last 4 months of rehearsals we all worked so hard on,  still everyone had to quickly deal with the sudden “missing partner”.

What's Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic Nutrition focuses on the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit. The conventional approach to nutrition mainly focuses on the physical aspect of your health. In contrast, a holistic nutritionist focuses on how your physical health can impact your mental and emotional health. Imbalances in the gut microbiome (called dysbiosis) aects brain functions (hormones and neurons signaling), so addressing one’s nutrition is paramount at supporting optimal vitality, preventing disease, balancing hormones, stabilizing mood, and addressing chronic conditions. Approaching nutrition in a holistic way means deepening our relationship with what nourishes one’s body and soul.
